For the past few months, Jessica and I have been visiting schools and introducing Zumba to kids from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
At some schools, we’ve had more than 50 kids at once all jumping, shaking, giggling and moving without realizing it. The Zumba kids program truly works for the appropriate ages.
I often wonder if the boys will participate. Yet, when we put the music on, they are the first ones to jump in and really get into it. Interesting.
We usually play a game where we grab 1-3 students and bring them in the middle of the circle of kids. They come up with a move that everyone does together with them. One little boy put his hands on his butt and starting shaking his hips, and all his classmates cheered him on while doing the same movement. You can imagine how the teachers and I were cracking up at this.
The kids have so much fun. I love that the ZumbAtomic program is helping kids get healthy and learn to love not only exercise, but also dance and different cultures.
I would love to see this program become part of the Alberta Curriculum.
